Crazy Critiquers

Is there anyone out there who is serious about writing, who lives withing driving distance of Brigham City and wants to join a critique group? We want to recruit one or two more people. We have four who attend regularly. Two with publishing contracts and one who just finished her first manuscripts and is looking for a place for it to live. =) Two of us submit every week, and the other two intermittently. One is a school teacher. LOVE having an English teacher in the group. We can't get away with any grammar mistakes!

Anyway, the way we do things is that we submit ten pages by email, by Tuesday. We print out those pages, go over them, make corrections, suggestions and give praise etc... Then on Thursday, we meet to discuss it. PS. We always bring treats! Personally, that's my favorite part. We meet at the middle school library in Brigham and have so much fun. It's the highlight of my week.

So, if you're willing to drive to Brigham each week, are wanting to seriously improve your writing, and make new friends, let me know!

A little on critique groups. I can honestly say my writing improved with my group. Some people don't like critique groups, or they're afraid to let people see what they write OR they just don't want people telling them where they need to improve. Those things are vital if you want to grow in your writing career. I know for a fact I wouldn't be having a book published if I hadn't had good friends helping me, teaching me the rules, encouraging me to show up each week!

The writing world can be painful. Rejections hurt. It's so important to have a support network and this is just one avenue that works well. Just sayin'!
