My critique group took a break from meeting over the holidays. It gave me time to concentrate on my contracted manuscript. Now we're back to meeting. I sure missed them! I love my critique friends! What I notice is that my ability to critique has increased a hundred fold! Wow, what a difference!
I can read a paragraph of my book on the computer and know almost exactly what Kristine's correction's will be. I'm usually right! Yeah! I'm getting it!
It makes it a lot more fun when I critique my friend's ms. I can see things I never saw before. I'm no where near as good as Kristine, but I catch things I never used to. Thanks, K for all your comments, help and encouragement.
Yesterday, I read this comment from K on my ms. "Once we get these things fixed, this story will be a gem!" Coming from her, that felt huge! =)
I am so grateful for this exciting education. I'm so grateful for a job I can do at home. I'm so grateful I discovered a talent I never knew I had. See? You can teach and old dog new tricks!
Never give up your dream! You can do it, no matter your age. If you are willing to put in the time, to do the work, it will happen!

That's exactly why I am going over contracted and submitted book 2 again before we even start the process all over again.
I love that! Sometimes when I write, I can almost "hear" members of my group or my editor in my head. I just know that so-and-so will call me out on this part being flat or telly or whatever, so I change it ahead of time. And if I don't, sure enough, they call me on it! Isn't it GREAT to be able to measure your own improvement?

You are deep and give great advice. Different than anyone else. You say thing none of us gals ever think to say. I love it. You give our group a great feel. I just adore you. I feel very blessed that you are in my group.
