N is for Night

There's something mysterious, secretive and fabulously wonderful about the night. My favorite time is to snuggle in bed with all the lights off and watch a movie or read. I love how the night feels like it will last forever. Daytime never seems to feel that way. It flies by with a wink.

But night . . .

Night time is for horror stories, Halloween, and night games. On the other side, it's for caroling through the neighborhood as your feet crunch the snow. It's for laying outside and watching the stars, for making out with that adorable boy you think you're in love with. =)

I love  to camp and sit around the campfire and how black the trees look against the sky. To watch the sparks from the fire flicker up and out of sight.

I love the feel of my kids all sound asleep, tucked safely in their beds.

Ah, night. I love your cool blackness, your thick deepness, your shaded eyes and secrets.

Yes, the night is special. In my novels and short stories, I always pay it special homage.

Great post, my friend.

You have a wonderful gift for painting pictures with words. I am a visual person and I can 'see' everything you discribe. Will be following your blog.

Night is certainly a special time. When I was a kid, I loved playing outside at dusk.

Melissa, I enjoy your upbeat blog, and would love for you to review my book if you're interested. I'm just not sure how to reach you.

Loved the word pictures in this post, and the fact that night can be your friend. Reminds me of Juliet's 'ode' to night in the Gallop Apace speech, including:
Come, civil night, Thou sober-suited matron, all in black
and
Lovers can see to do their amorous rites By their own beauties; or, if love be blind, It best agrees with night
:-)
Thanks for the N post
All best, Karla

Great description of nighttime. I can see why you like that time of day best. But I actually like early morning best, because it's when my neighborhood is quietest. I like getting up early to take walks in the mostly empty streets, because it's the one time of day where I don't feel impatient or in a rush (probably because there are less people around).

Night is good. Not that the work stops but at least with the children asleep, I can get on with my writing. Great post.

I enjoy reading your blog posts and have awarded you The Versatile Blogger award.

Hi, Melissa! I hopped over from Fi's blog to say hello and congratulate you on your award! :-)

You've painted some beautiful images here. Night is wonderful and mysterious, but only as long as I maintain the option of being able to chase it away with light.

Great post, I love the night as well. Love the visual you've created here!
