It's amazing how fast a week flies by. Sorry I've haven't written but I have been editing madly and I want my book to be perfect.
I have spent hours on this book. I love it. I know it's good. The reason I know this is because the people who will one day buy it are raving about it already. I have passed around a manuscript to my nieces and nephews (and my own children) just to get their opinion. They couldn't lay it down! In fact, my niece Hannah called to give advice on the second book in the series. I thought this was funny considering I haven't found a buyer for the first yet! She also said it was better than Harry Potter. Now I don't know if that is true, but dang! My ego is soaring!
Also, my son took the manuscript to school (which I could have killed him for) and passed it around to his friends who all supposedly loved it. Now to find an agent who loves it.
So, I polish this manuscript, make the appropriate changes, cry and pull my hair out and still, no takers. Argg! It's all in who you know and I don't know many people in New York! =)
Anyway, onword and upward. I will not give up. This is too important to me.

Peace Like a River

Two days ago I started reading a new book, Peace like a River. I have to say, I'm having a love affair with the words in that story. They are so beautifully written, so artfully strung together, so poignantly placed that I find myself wishing I could write like that.
Now, I think I'm a passable writer, and on occasion, even a good one, but I'm not like Leif yet. I want to be, and maybe with vast amounts of practice, I could be, but as of now I'm still too obviously a novice.
Anyway, I just wanted to put a plug in for this book. Check it out and see what you think. If you've already read it, did you love it like I do?

Yea for writing!
Hello all! The weekend is almost here and I am so glad. It has been a stressful two weeks for me.
I had this great critique group going and one of the gals just up and quit! I couldn't believe it! All at the last minute too. So, now there are only two of us. We are working hard at finding a couple more so we'll see.
I meet with Lori Nawyn who is a fabulous writer! I just adore her.
Anyway, as far as writing goes, I am changing my latest story from 3rd person to 1st.
I just got to a point where I was stuck and not liking it. Nothing felt right. So I took out all the perspectives from other points of view and changes the main character to first person. It flows better now and I like it. It will take a few days to change those 100 pages though!
So, everyday I write. Every day I read, and every day I edit. I also shower in between there somewhere!
Also, I just remembered, my thirteen year old son went to the teen writers conference last weekend. He loved it! I saw James Dashner there and I just adore him. I asked him if he would write a blurb on the back of my book when I sold it. He said YES, of course! Ya hoo!!!
There was an author there, and dang it, I can't remember her name, or wait, it's Jessica Day George. She said that she tried to sell a book for nine years without any success. NINE YEARS! That gives me hope. She was at the end of her rope and had told her husband that she was quitting writing after the conference she was going to and guess what? Yep, you got it. Her book sold! She met someone at the conference who loved her manuscript. Now she's had quite a few books published.
What does this tell you? NEVER give up! NEVER!!!!!
