Checking in

I'm finding it almost impossible to write now that school is out. And it's not just that the kids are distracting me as much as it is that I want to play and have fun in the sun with them.

I have friends with kids who say they plan to take the summer off, but I don't want to do that, and yet, I don't feel like writing. At least I haven't felt like it this week. It's going to be a push to get my writing done, but I will. I don't want to develop bad habits or get lazy. Sigh. What to do. What to do?

I also found out that one of my other articles was printed and I missed it! I didn't even know until a neighbor told me how much he's enjoying my column. I'll have to find it because I'm going to make a scrap book. So now they've printed three! And here I thought I'd only be a sub and have one article printed  once a month at the most. Can't wait to get paid! =)

Good luck with multi-tasking and finding precious writing time! I know you'll do it and do it in style too! Take care

You need fresh experiences to generate fresh writing, so I say "have fun in the sun!"
Huge congrats on the 3 published pieces, that is incredible.
Good luck on balancing your summer hours, keep us posted on how you do it:)

Great news on the printed articles! I can understand how hard it would be to write when it is so beautiful outside.

I teach at my kid's school, so when I'm home, they're home. Summers are my time to write. Tell them you're working a new online job and they need to watch cartoons for an hour every day. They'll love it and so will you. ;)

I just read your article below and enjoyed it. I liked how you spoke the truth that it's not quite the same but that you can still have fun and give the kids those good memories. Good job!
About desires to write, what gets me motivated is feeling like I'm on a roll with a good idea. The book you are writing right now is one of those good ideas! Keep it up, girl. I'm loving reading your stuff. Find that happy medium and write!

Congratulations on your articles! If I tried to do that it would turn out random and probably sound like my blog. Scary.

See, I'm a teenager, so I have the opposite problem. I can only write when school's out, so I'm in hog heaven right (write? :) ) now.

Just do it! :-)

Congrats!

If I were you I'd set aside some time every day to write (even if you don't feel like it). It doesn't have to be a long time...even just 30 minutes is better than nothing. The routine of it may help jumpstart your writing, and limiting the time will ensure you don't shortchange your kids. :)
