U is for United

Don't you all just love this A to Z challenge? I've found it very refreshing as I force my brain to think of creative words to represent the letter of the day.

Today, it's the word united. I think of that object lesson where you tell someone to break a twig and they do, easily. But when you put a bunch of twigs together, it's hard. United, we are strong. United, we can do anything, help anyone, protect everyone. Not only as a country, but as families, as friends, as sports teams, as churches.

We are the United States of America. I LOVE my country. I cry when I see the flag raised on the 4th of July. I would fight for my country if called to do so. I've lived out of the states. I know that as an American, what I have is priceless. The gift of freedom is a blessing so many take for granted, or don't understand, or don't realize they even have. Hopefully, we as a nation never have to experience the opposite.

We may have different opinions, different political beliefs, and different ideas, but we can work together. We have to . . . or we'll fall.

God bless America
Land that I love.
Stand beside her, and guide her
Through the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans, white with foam
God bless America, My home sweet home

I agree that a united front is our best hope for solving the problems we face as a country. Let's hope that our politicians, and our citizens, stop demonizing opposing opinions, and learn to work together again, to strengthen our common bonds, and to attain our common goals.

Great post ME. I thought about doing united myself (but everytime I went to type it I always ended up with "untied"). So I went for something else entirely. God Bless the USA!

United is a great word. It's a great concept too. A united country is a wonderful thing. I dream of a day when our hopes for unity can become more than national. United, internationally, for the good of all.

We are all Americans. This may sound hokey, but your column made me proud that we are. Thumbs up!

I have been enjoying the heck out of the A-Z challenge. I have gotten out of my normal scope of blogs to see things others are writing about and getting more ideas for my own little corner of the internet.

Love your post today!

Oh and this (from your random quote of the day):
"Women are angels. When someone breaks our wings, we simply continue to fly . . . on a broomstick.

We are flexible like that."

Is AWESOME! I love it. Is it original? Can I quote you on that when I next talk about witches on my blog (which is every 4 or 5 hours really)?

Patriotism is something that I admire about Americans. Many of my countrymen are nowhere as loyal to our country. Pity.

As an Americaphobe (is that correct?) I understand how you feel. At this time I think everyone should be united because we're going to go through some changing times and whinging about it isn't going to help.

Tim- you most certainly can steal my quote and no, it's not original. I wish I were that clever, but a friend of mine shared it with me. I have no idea who wrote it! It's fair game as far as I'm concerned. LOL

Thank you all for your awesome comments and for visiting my blog! I love you guys!
