I have a request to all bloggers in boggesphere. PLEASE, please, please turn off your word verification. You don't need it anymore. Not with the new changes. Your spam folder will pick up those unwanted advertisements. I can't even count how many times I have accidentally deleted my beautiful, thought-filled comments as I clicked away from the page, not realizing the stupid comment moderation was going to pop up (and always too slow.)
There's nothing more irritating than being moved by an especially beautiful blog-post, only to have your comment disappear. Most people don't have the time or the memory to do it all again! So, for those of us who are super busy, who don't have time to really even be messing around reading everyone's blog, please be kind. Turn of the verification. Thank you so much! =)

I agree 100% even if you do get spam all you have to do is delete it.
I don't have mine on because some people would tell me they tried to post a comment and I'd never see it. (you have to click like 5 times sometimes to get the dang thing to work). A lot had to do with my mom being all tech-challenged so I had to make it as easy as possible for her to comment ;p
Thanks for joining me Melissa, kind regards, Carole.
Yeah, I agree. I've tried to make mine as easy as possible for comments.
amen
Hmmm...running to turn mine off now! I feel like this was the perfect public service announcement for blogs! ;-)
Ditto, ditto, ditto!
I didn't know about this new change. So I'm going to post this message also. I hate, hate, hate word verification. Count up the moments it takes to do it, moments that add up to minutes, to hours over time; time that could be spent more productively, like writing comments and not losing them!!
Thanks for posting this.

Hear, hear! I think a lot of people don't even realize what kind of settings they have for their comments. It's worth paying attention too!
I second that. What is weird is a friend sent me an e-mail to say my blog had word verification sometime back in Sept. I never selected it. I immediately turned it off and apologized to my friends. So double check folks. It is annoying.

P.S. Sorry I haven't been by much, I've been sick.

I agree. I don't think word verification is needed. :/ It takes a second to do, but it can get pretty annoying I must admit.

I didn't realise I had word verification on till someone appealed to turn it off - so I checked my settings and saw I had it on and instantly deactivated it. I don't seem to have any more spam and I also disabled the preview button as my comments go straight to post. In fact I am going to check my settings again and make sure no gremlins got in!
Sorry about your book contract cancellation - must be devastating but I hope you will get another believer and take off in the literary world!
All the best, Catherine.
What a smart proposal! I'm going to work out how to do that right now! Thanks for the tip - makes SO MUCH sense :)

I didn't have mine on for awhile but I kept getting strange messages and advertisements. If most of that's cleared up now, then I'm happy to turn it off again :)
oh, amen!!!! this happened on Elizabeth's blog just like yesterday! I always sigh, then shrug and say "oh well." moving on!
I'm totally double checking mine because I HATE THAT!
Word!
Amen!
Man, do I agree. SO irritating.
First time here. *waves* Nice to meet you. :)

Um... I don't know anything about this. I did look and there seemed to be a spam filter for comments, but in 9 months of blogging, nothing's there. Is that what this is?
Robert-mine is full of spam. I don't remember if you have to tag it and then the program starts picking the rest up or what. Go to your dashboard. I think that's where you get started. But it's been a while since I did it. Can't remember now. You'll just have to play with it.
How funny, I didn't even know that there was such a thing. I will go and disable it on mine. Thanks for the heads up!
I had to go and double check my blog after this! I never get spam either. I wonder why?
Word verification doesn't bother me. Have it, don't have it. It's all good :-)
