NaNoWriMo!

So, I signed up for NaNoWriMo, or whatever it's called! I've never done it before and it kind of freaks me out, but I'm super excited. I started a great new story a few weeks ago that I'm going to finish during this little venture. It's a paranormal YA that I originally wrote as a short story.

It was for my eleventh writing assignment with Longridge. I'm almost done with this course and I can't wait to be. It was great fun, but I learned more through conferences and my critique group, mainly because they just moved faster. The assignements with Longridge are monthly and I took six months off last year and now, I'm finally finishing up.

The cool thing here is that it forced me to write something I normally wouldn't. I don't see short stories in my head. I see novels. So I've turned this story, which I call The Camera Man, into a novel and so far I'm about sixty pages into it.

Wish me luck! I can't wait to see how it turns out. One piece of advice that the NaNoWriMo people give is to not go back and edit AT ALL! That is going to be super hard! Because I normally write a chapter then go back through it to fix any mistakes or things I don't like, but I'm going to take their advice and write like the wind! Woo hoo! What a ride! Come along, if you dare!

I'm thinking about signing up this year...and it scares me to death! Mainly because of the "no editing" recommendation. Good luck to you!

I'm signed up this year, hopefully I get a good outline done before Nov 1st- but if I don't well such is the way right? And who knows maybe you will find a certain kind of freedom with taking out the editing? anyway- good luck and see you there!

I'm thinking about it as well. I'm an editing while writing freak, so it will be a huge challenge for me to just write. We'll see how it goes! Good luck!! :)

So, not-editing was the hardest part for me in Nano last year. =P Best of luck! I'm sure you'll rock!

NaNoWriMo will be awesome, just you wait! I've been a participant since 2006 and haven't stopped since. :)

It's a LOT of work and take loads of time and energy and dedication...but you get so immersed in the novel you're writing that it's just so much fun.

Feel free to add me, Gwendolyn92. NaNo is 10x more fun if you collaborate with others who know exactly what you're going through and are doing it too. :)

Best of luck!!

It's a great discipline to acquire the ability to write straight through to the end. Good luck.

I love Nano. You really do have to lock up your inner editor though and just write. Good luck!

Good luck with NaNo! I wish I was doing it this year, but revisions have me tied up. :)
