Good old fashioned love

OH MY WORD! I just received the nicest compliment from Deidra Eden Coppel!

She gave me the Powerful Woman Writer Award!

Seriously, I feel . . . I'm not sure which word describes it best. Out of any award I could win, THAT one says the most to me. Thank you, Deidra. I take it deep into my heart and roll around with it in a big, warm blanket.

Which brings me to my next thought.

What was the last great compliment you received? How did it make you feel? Did it illicit a powerful emotion? Last Sunday, a gal at my church said to me, "You are the friendliest person I know. You make everyone feel like they're your best friend even when they're not. You make everyone feel so good." I don't repeat this to pat myself on the back. I honestly never thought of myself that way, but let me say, those words dripped over me like melted caramel. I reveled in that loving feeling for as long as I could. I had no idea people thought that way about me.

We need to say what we feel for others (if it's good) so they know. Women, especially need to feel wanted, loved and appreciated. This is what makes the world go 'round. It's called LOVE. Good, old fashioned love.

Oh, how right you are, Melissa. There's so much bad stuff going on the the world that people get preoccupied and forget about the good stuff. I think a simple complement is really good stuff.

And, yes, you do come across as a really nice, really caring person. Whenever I come to your site and see your photo on the side, I think, she looks so bright and happy and that makes me happier. Honest!

Melissa, I loved your post. Isn't it wonderful to feel appreciated by your peers...those people who strive for the same goals as yourself; people you respect because you can relate to everything in their writing journey?

You have a lovely blog and I look forward to getting to know you better.

Congratulations on your award, Melissa! (And your compliment). I remember how it made my day a few weeks ago when someone stopped me just to say I had a beautiful smile. Yes, we should all compliment each other more often!
