A little of this, a little of that.

So, we've had almost two weeks of nanowrimo and I have to say, I've loved it! As of today, I have 48,130 words. Now, I'm just piddling along, not in any hurry. I write here and there throughout the day and I'll be done by tomorrow.

I can't wait to go back through to fix things up. It's turned out to be a great little story. If definitely needs work. I know that, but what first draft doesn't? We'd all like to think that we're brilliant the first time through, but let's be real folks. That baby needs a long, hot bath! And so do I! LOL

I also want to thank all of you out there for the support you've been. It's so hard to back out of a contract like I did. Honestly, I would have stayed if my editor had been willing to compromise at all, in any way. How do you battle something like that? How do you go back and say, "This is it? You're not willing to see things my way? At all?" I was amazed and hurt, but I had, and still have this peaceful feeling that tells me it will work out better because of this. I keep trying to remember that, but some days, it's hard.

So, long story short, thank you. Thank you for pumping me back up. Thank you for telling me I did the right thing even if you don't really think I did. Thank you for telling me I'm wonderful, smart, beautiful and talented. Thank you for the hugs (real and cyber) that I get on a daily basis on facebook and on my phone. Thank you for standing by me even though I can't brag that I'm about to be a published author anymore. I don't know what I'd do without my friends (writers and otherwise) out there.

People say writers are solitary beings? Maybe, but in my case, they've come out of the wood work in droves!

Good work on Nano! That's really incredible. Hang in there. If you sold your book once, you'll do it again. I know it must be hard.

That's amazing, the number of words you've put on paper! This is the best thing you could have done for yourself to help get over the loss of the book contract. Good job! as my daughter Jen would say.

Wow, congrats on your NaNo word count! That's awesome! Also, I sent you a message, but in case it got eaten by cyberspace, I wanted to let you know there's an award for you on my blog.

Wow good for you. I didn't sign up for nano and have been in the writing doldrums becase of the awful gloomy weather too, but I also find that my blogging friends boost me up again. Glad you've enjoyed your nano experience and glad youstood up for yourself with regards your editor. :O)

Wow! Only half way through the month, and you started a day late, and you're nearly done? That's impressive. I've been behind in the blog world, and hadn't read about your contract issue until now. I'm sorry it didn't work out. But bravo to you, for sticking with what your heart wanted, instead of selling out just to get published. That's more impressive then your fabulous NaNo report!

p.s. I totally agree with you on the "turn off your word verification" plea. I hate that thing! :)

Wow...nicely done. The one time I tried NaNoWriMo, I just couldn't get moving and ended up failing out (I had a few short stories, but no cohesive longer work).

Way to go! :)
